Scotia Prince Cruise Ferry

I originally read about this in an article on the New York Times website then checked out their site info and requested a printed brochure on their pacakges which finally came in the mail today. It looks really nice and is rather inexpensive too. Plus, their website has a lot of positive reviews as well as the NY Times article giving it positive reviews. So I have been throwing around the idea of doing this driving trip to Portland and taking the ferry to Nova Scotia and think that it is definitely something I will do. I may end up just doing this as a big trip instead of a standard cruise this year because it will be cheaper all together plus I would like to do a cruise with someone else and I really have noone else to go with now anyway. I'll probably drive into Boston over a couple days then do the N.S. trip for 4 days and come back home for a total of 7-8 days I'd say. It will probably be awesome, especially for photos along the N.S. coast. :) Have some more research and planning to do but I'll keep you updated.

Welcome to my travel blog!

Well, this is the actual first post to my travel blog. I have initially created it as a seperate entity from my main "Life & Times" blog to document my travel experiences and plans through pictures and words. I'll have to see how well it goes though. By creating this seperate blog my idea is that it my "Life & Times" blog will get used for more everyday and personal entries, where this one will be be used specifically for detailed travel entries. It will initially have copied entries from my main blog and from now on I'll reference travel entries in my main blog and point to this one for the full details. Hope it works out well, eh?

Big Wing Wong Restaurant, Chinatown, NYC

So, when we were on the walking tour of Manhattan we stopped at about 5:00 - 5:30 to eat lunch in Chinatown. The place we went was pretty nice and the food was quite good but when were finished I neglected to pick up a business card so I would remember what it was for my next visit. Well, I wanted to figure out what the name of the place was yesterday at work and all I had to go on was my memory of the area, two photographs I took in Chinatown on the way to the restaurant and one photograph I took outside the restaurant in the dark. The two shots on the way helped to establish that we had crossed over to the north side of Canal St. because I remembered crossing at the intersection of Canal and Mulberry. From there, the only thing I had was the third photo after we ate. I could make out two addresses on awnings on the same side of the street but didn't know the street, of course. Luckily, I could read the sign on the opposite side of the street that said Buy Rite Pharmacy and was able to find that on Google Maps on Canal St. Then I basically knew where we were but just had to find the actual restaurant. Thanks to a couple web searches and the very good http://www.menupages.com/, which has menus from thousands of New York City restaurants, I was finally able to pinpoint the surrounding businesses and the restaurant in which we ate: Big Wing Wong Restaurant at 102 Mott St.. Sure, I wasted some time at work but I left feeling satisfied that I accomplished something and now I know where to go when I return to NYC. :)
